So I'm considering welding one of my cans on a 10.5" barrel.

Got the gas block covered with a YHM 2-piece.

Next is the handguard and here's the question:

In order to maximize versatility, I'm looking to find out just how many free float handguards utilize a standard barrel nut.

Anyone got input?

I would not weld a can on anything!  But your gun,  do what you want.
