Okay so yesterday I was at the range, I shoot clays (up against a dirt pile) with my 10-22, and got into a competition with some guy. anyways. After it all he told me he was a machinist. He said he's converted several of his friends guns into fully auto. (including, an SKS, Mini 14 and a 10-22) Now I was kind of weary because i dont know if hes an undercover cop or anything but I defenitely want to make myself a full auto 10-22 one day (please dont talk to me about legalities) He said its simply Cutting down some metal, and rearranging some parts. He said he could make it where the "safety on" is semi auto and "safety off" is full auto. Does anyone know about full auto 10-22's? Is it that simple? any truth to any of this?

I left it at that! I dont need to lose my guns to some snitch just wondering.

I heard of this a few years back, not sure if it was as involved as changing the safety to the selector...

seems like its easier and safer to use a crank vs some sketchy gun smithing....

10 years in a federal prison, against FA 10/22? I think I'll pass.

You just entered the drawing to receive an all expense paid trip to Club Fed..

Sounds like you have a good chance at winning also..

Ask him to show you some of the goods and do some background checks yourself. Ask him about costs and legalities. If it's an agent, and it's probably not, there's a limit to how hard he's going to try and sell you anything before it becomes entrapment. Generally the BATF sting operations don't revolve around trying to get local yokals to convert their 10/22's..... Kinda far down on the list of concerns these days at the bureau.

FWIW fully-auto 10/22's are a dime-a-dozen around here. I've never had much of an interest myself in fully-auto anything since it's generally useless and too expensive for simple fun. Now a reliable 3-round burst seems much more useful to me. According to the local guys here, the 10/22 is a very simple conversion to full auto.
