I have been doing a full length resizing / decapping (step 1) with my 5.56 case prep. Do I need to do this if I reload them for the same gun? Theoretically, they already fit the chamber.
I'm using the Lee four die deluxe set. The neck sizer (step 2 normally) has a decapper also. |

I don't own the "deluxe" set but do the 3 die set(whatever name they give it, idk...), so this is news to me. |

Neck needs to be sized. Shoulder needs to be set back .003 to .004 for ease of chambering. (no jams) Your FL resizing die will do this for you and knock out the spent primer. |

I've only seen the Deluxe in 3-die sets, but there may be some 4-die sets. The Ultimate set I have has a full length sizing/decapping die, a collet neck sizing die, an easy adjust dead length bullet seating die, and the factory crimp die. |

Not familiar with this die set.
Generally, for a semi auto you need to FL resize as stated, even for the same gun. You can neck size to save brass life and improve accuracy, in a good bolt gun. Neck sizing can be tricky though, prone to case neck / bullet concentricity issues and other problems unless done properly. |

I think the dies are the same level dies in the Ultimate set as their others, it's just that it comes with the factory crimp die also for a total of 4 dies. If I'm wrong on this, please correct. The sizer/decapper die is a full length sizer. |

I was trying to research the Deluxe die sets because I was going to sell some sets I never got around to using. They appear to have been discontinued.
The Ultimate set is basically the old Deluxe set, but it includes the FCD. The Deluxe set was a three die set which contained a FL sizer and a neck sizer, both of which contain a decapper, and the bullet seating die. The Pacesetter sets are now the three die set, but they only include one FL sizing die, one seating die, and the FCD. |
