I have a side stamped poly M14s, and I have a HRA GI bolt, and I'm looking into getting a bolt conversion done. How are the fulton armory conversions? Are they as good as SEI or Warbird. Replacing the barrell in not a problem as I want to move up to a medium weight, and have them install and align a scope mount. Also do they ensure the rifle doesn't jam empties against the scope mount or does the smith or arms mount take care of this problem I used a springfield mount and it jams quite often.

I had SEI install a medium heavy Crazy Horse barrel and TRW bolt on a Norinco receiver.
The results were so awesome I had SEI build three more M14s for me on Norinco and Poly Tech receivers with USGI bolts.
SEI knows the Chinese M14 receiver better than anyone else and I highly recommend their services.
Ask for M80HT were applicable

I have no experience with USGI bolt conversions by FA or WB

SEI's website makes it seem as if they are too busy with the GWOT, are they pretty easy to work with? Also whats their prices like?

They are busy, but windows of opportunity open up from time to time.
The best advise is to have a real clear idea of what have, what you need and
what you want to end up with before you call SEI and speak to Ron Smith.
He will be able to give a price with that information.

Ron is easy to work with, just do your homework first.

big_joe555,

Fulton Armory is top notch - I own a FA Service Grade M14 and it's absolutely perfect in every respect. Also, Clint McKee personally builds each and every M14 by hand - which leads me to believe he also does all M14 variant work as well? Either way, I think no matter who you pick - FA, SEI, Warbird you're in a win, win situation as I've never read or heard anything negative about the aforementioned...it's probably a matter of the price & time you're willing to pay and wait for.

my $0.02

Cheers,

p.s. One of Walt Kuleck's and Clint McKee's books on the M14 - good stuff!
