Can anyone tell me of what these are made out of?  It says original USGI forged receiver but I don't know how they managed that.

And also, how do they shoot?  Any first hand experience would be great to hear.

And yes, I know all about CMP Garands but I want to explore and research all the other Garand options out there.

Thanks!

I have no experiance with Fulton, BUT if you want to explore all othe roptions for a Garand, check out these guys....

www.m1garandrifle.com/

These guys are top notch in Garands, I recently bought one of thier Military Grade rifles, very good work. Yes I could have got a collector from the CMP but these guys had the rifle I was looking for in stock and ready to ship, 2 days later it was at my house.

go here for pics..

It's been a month, let's see if anyone else has played with a FA Garand.

It's pretty simple they either buy receivers and/or rifles and part them out for the receiver. How is that hard to understand?

Due to this these rifles are re-finished so the collector value is diminished.

I have to disagree with that. Very few Garands have survived the years intact, with the same parts that they had on them when they were first built. Just about every garand the CMP sells has been re arsenaled more than once. Even the collector grade rifles that they sell are not rifles with 100% parts that the individual rifle had when it was first assembled.

So why would a rifle that has been re arsenaled by Fulton or Orion7 be worth less? They use USGI parts, all except for after market barrels, and alot of guys go with a wilson barrel for competition.

The rifles the CMP sells have been refinished some many times over. The rifle I bought through Orion7 is a work of art, the rifle is gorgous, it is the Garand I have allways wanted, I am happy, to me it was worth the price, alot of other people think so to, as Orion7 sells a alot of rifles in the Military grade that I bought.

The rifle is going to be worth what the markit will pay for it, thats why the CMP has raised prices again, the markit will bear the price.

If you want a FA garand and are willing to pay a higher price, then get one, if you want a CMP rack grade for alot less money then get one, learn it as you clean it, disassemble it, enjoy the piece of history.

That's just it, FA and Orion are not the govt. USGI re-arsenaled guns while not worth as much as original finish rifles are still worth more in the eyes of collectors than commercially re-finished rifles. That is not a slam on FA or Orion, it is just a fact.

All of the FA M1's I have seen also come with commercial wood as opposed to USGI wood. Their finish is also not exactly like USGI finish, close but not the same.

get them while they last.  collector grades are all but gone for good, with service grades thinning.  soon the field grades will go as well, and finally the rackers.  this WILL happen, and sooner rather than later.  all indications are pointing at a 3-5 year supply left TOPS, and once they're gone, they're GONE.
