I'm thinking of putting green furniture on a DPMS/Panther shorty I recently got, just to give it a different look from my Match Target. It's a post-ban (of course) and has the pinned CAR type buttstock, and standard CAR or carbine (short) front handguard. Two questions: 1) suggestions on where to look for this stuff, i.e. companies to contact. 2) Is it difficult to remove the buttstock and does it require any special tools? OK, I'm lazy, and this was likely covered here at some time before, but any help and/or suggestions are immensely appreciated. |

You need a CAR tube wrench which generally sell for less than $10. It's a handle with a C on top of it. At the far end of the C there's a single tooth that hooks into the matching notches of the nut that holds the CAR stock on. Using a normal hand tool is going to mar the thing up. Armalite, Bushmaster, and Fulton-Armory all sell the tool. Armalite is where I got my heat resistant green furniture sets from. |
| Once again, my confidence in the ability of fellow AR-15'ers to help solve my problems is well founded. Thanks a million, guys! Gary-I walked right past your booth at the Crossroads of the West gunshow this past weekeng and it didn't even cross my mind to check with your people. Musta been in a firearms-induced fog. |
Said with a 'hissy lisp' - "...and now, our TSan FranTcisco EnTsemble..." ![]() Why on EARTH would someone put those particular colors on The Black Rifle? , I guess!!!The grey or tan ones I can see as usable. I'm not trying to be rude or judgmental (uh, really, I'm not...) but, I can't understand the reasoning here. What IS the reasoning? ![]() I mean, mine aren't what everybody would do either, but, I don't get it on this one. |
| The carbine I am working on now I plan on building up in green. Everyone around here (at ranges in northern VA.) has black so it will set it apart from the rest a bit. I want to use Cav arms OD M4 handguards, RRA OD post-ban stock (sucks, but I don't want an A2 on my carbine). I also recall a while back about a company special ordering OD green Hogue AR grips. I'll try to search for it but if anyone has and info on where I could fine one I would greatly appreciate it. |
| Jeez, did I make a mistake last night. I showed this thread to my GF, along with the various colors offered by Cav. She was lobbying REAL HARD for that goddamn pink furniture on one of MY ARs! "Come on, babe, you have two of them. One of them can be pink, for me" (bat eyes, bat eyes) Yeah, right, pink furniture on MY AR. I'll bat an eye for her. So, looks like I know what to get her for Christmas-her own damn AR with pink furniture! |
