I purchased a GSG5-PK around 4yrs ago. I purchased it with the intention of going the route of SBR, so I did that put the folding stock on it and K grip once I got my approved paperwork back. I did not shoot it until the paperwork came back, so any problems, I was not aware of until this point.

I took the thing apart prior to shooting it and put the nuts and bolts upgrade in it and along with locktite.

So here is the issue, I cannot get through a full mag without a FTF, FTE, the thing just does not run like my less than $150 CMMG conversion kit for my AR does.

I have close to $900(tax stamp and parts) in this GSG5-PK pot metal gun, and it sits in the safe the majority of the time.

My thoughts on it is it is mag related, as the springs appear to be awfully weak. I have taken the mags apart and cleaned the cosmoline crap off of them and they still do not appear to run without a problem.

I called ATI this morning and they suggested sending it in to them for testing, but to be honest, I am not sure if they will be able to tell me anything I don;t alreay know about this POS Pot Metal Safe Queen.

Are there any after market springs out there for mags that may fix the mag issue?

I bought mine second hand and it came with an aftermarket mag and the factory 10 rounder.  I can't run the aftermarket mag at all.  It won't feed.  The 10 rounder works perfectly.  I suspect you probably have the same mag issues that I have but I don't know the cause.  Good luck.

All the mags I have are factory mags, not aftermarket...... I was hoping someone like Wolff might have an aftermarket spring out there that would fix the problem.

Are you gripping the mag when you shoot? It will FTF. Check the nuts and bolts and see if one of them is dragging somewhere.

I have ought a ton of mags and none had any oil in them, you sure they are factory?

All original mags, atleast they came in the factory boxes as they were all new when I got them.

Not holding the mag when shooting, as it has the K-Grip, registered SBR.

The mags I cleaned had a cosmoline subtance all inside them......

I sbr'd one too and had the same frustration and ftf problems. I was getting light primer strikes. I now have it down to a minimum. I had fte's too. I don't recall much about the solution to the fte's but for ftf's, see below.

I messed with my firing pin. It has been years so bare with me on the vague specifics ....  I took the bolt apart and then moved the firing pin back and forth in its channel  without spring tension. That allowed me to see how far forward it good physically go even with a massive hammer strike. It was barely enough to hit the primer!!  So I dremeled off the part under the "pin" projection to make it go forward more. I think a channel stamped into the pin need a bit too. I also tapered the "pin face" so it was less surface area hitting. Less surface area equals more psi. The pin is cheap so if you booger it up it isn't the end of the worlld. I also made a slight radius with the dremeled sanding drum on the back of the bolt. It seemed as if the hammer had a hard time hitting the pin. I don't think this last part helped, but worth looking at.

Hope this helps inspire some thoughts. Email me if you want more detail. I don't check post much....

The barrel may have losend and rotated slightly.  Try removing the barrel and re-tightening with locktite.

Mine did that it worked well for a while then jammed or soft striked and noticed the barrel rotated.  It did it twice, bu once locktited it hasn't moved and been reliable with Federal and remington bulk ammo.

These guns seem to run better the older they get, except now I have an issue with the barrel screws coming loose sending off double and triple taps every so often.  Going to pull it apart and thinking about going to red locktite to see  if that will fix it the blue doesnt seem to hold.  I too SBR'd mine right off the bat before I had fired enough to know better.  IT took allot of frustration but just like the other poster stated my issues are down to a minmum so I can enjoy the gun more than not.
