| I have been looking to load some Nosler Partition 60gr for my AR. I am planning on letting my kid use it as a deer rifle this year (only rifle I have she can handle the recoil). I came across the Sierra GameKing in 65gr. Has anyone done any true comparisons? Used both for hunting? I have a 1:9 twist on a 16" barrel. |

I'm sure you've checked, but .22s back here in the east (VA) are illegal. Better check with your dept of hunting/fishing out there prior to spending the bucks...Shrps74 He's from oregon. I have only ever heard of .22 cal rifles being illegal back east not out here in the wild west. Just sayin. To the OPs question. I havent used the Game Kings but i do swear by the partitions so does my dad and other members of my family. i am slowly starting to like the Barnes Triple Shocks tho. Good luck to your daughter this fall! |
| or use ww 64gr pp. i have loaded both win 64gr pp and the 63gr game kings both shoot about the same out of colt hbar 1x7 1/2 twist my daughter uses also for her deer rifle. Best shot we can get around here is 100 yard shot most of the time 50 yards is pushing it. |

I'd used 55 grn Game Kings in a .222 for many many years, here in WV. A well placed boiler room shot will stop any deer sized game in its tracks.
I've come to the conclusion it kills quicker than my 30-06 w/165 grn, just for the simple reason that the deer really doesn't even know it's been hit. The little 55 grainer gets in there and does it's thing, where-as the 165 grainer gives the deer a good wallop and startles it into a run. A very short run... but still. That's my experience. Maybe completely off-base, but it's never failed to turn out this way for me. |

I can say that every Game King I ever loaded was as accurate as their Match Kings. Maybe I've been luck, but I doubt it. They are very well made bullets. +1 You are not alone. I am still surprized how accurate they are every time I shoot. OP They will work just fine on a deer sized animal given good shot placment. Either bullet is a very good choice. |

Good luck to your daughter this fall! Not legal in Oklahoma. Incorrect....Quote from the Oklahoma Dept of Wildlife website: Legal Means of Taking "Rifles: Centerfire rifles firing at least a 55-grain weight soft-nosed or hollow-point bullet and having an overall cartridge case length of 1 1/4 inches or longer (9mm rifles are not legal). Clips or magazines of all .22 caliber centerfire firearms may not be capable of holding more than seven (7) rounds of ammunition." |
| We have had equally good success with the 60gr Partitions and WW 64gr PP's for whitetail deer. The WWPP is significantly less expensive, therefore is our current bullet of choice. I will buy a box of the Sierra 65gr GK's when I see them. I realy want to try that bullet. |
| Honestly, I do not care if a .223 is legal in another state, it IS legal in my state, and I am looking for advise in the best bullet. I know it is a small round, and many think it too small for deer, that is why I am looking for the heaviest and best performing round to put out of my carbine for my kid to use as her first deer rifle. |
