How many is too many?

I only had 10 clips two months ago and only one Garand but in the last 2 months I’ve bought 10 more just because they were a dollar a piece at two gun shows. At a Dollar a piece is this a good deal? When should I stop buying!!! 87 is not an acceptable answer.

Tons... They are meant to be disposable and are easily bent.  I personally would like enough to last my lifetime, my kids lifetime, and my grand kids lifetime.

I buy CMP ammo on clips in bandoleers.  I have enough clips for ~2000 rounds of ammo, whatever that may be.  I intend to up that #.

How many is too many? One Trillion. Anything less than that is not enough.

Keep buying, young Grasshopper!

A serious answer is: I don't even know how many I have. I have over 100 empty clips (from clips I've fired); and I have another 2500 rounds that are all on en bloc clips.

The best way to do it (as stated above) is to buy M2 ball from CMP that is already on en bloc clips. That's what I did, that's what I do.

Probably have a couple hundred loose & loaded.

Only really use the same 4-6 enblocs when I take a M1 out to shoot.

I have about 24 loaded with surplus Lake City .30-06 and about a dozen more loaded with blanks (for WW2 reenacting). I mark mine with a yellow dot to make sure I recover them once the fun is over and I am hunched over looking for them in the battlefield. I gotta get more though, I lose about 3-5 average per reenactment and usually gain 3-5 that are not mine, so it evens out.

About 6 or 8 years back I noticed that at the crummy gunshows I attend the going price had gone from  $2 a handfull to $1 a piece and some were blistter packing them for $3 each.
I became fearfull that the supply of original ones were starting to dry up and decided to lay in a supply. I got on the computer and searched.
There are guys selling them by the pound,case,crate,55gal drum and I can't believe how many different outfits seem to have them. I am not even that good at the internet.
Sort of boggles the mind when you realise that they were made from 1941 to 1945 and there are still that many laying around in storage
Not something to worry about in our lifetime

Thanks for your input.

Next gun show I see these at ill probably pick up 50, going price on gunbroker is a dollar a piece but then you have to pay shipping, at the gun shows its hand cash and walk away no tax (depending on the seller.)

How many magazines do you have for your other rifles (AR, FAL, 10/22)?  5?  10?  20?

How much did you spend on each of those? $20?  $10?

Now go spend the same on your M1.

That was my logic when I was buying them.

I'd say its about time I got a Garand.

I've probably got a few hundred. I could use about six to ten thousand more of them.

ALL of your ammo should already be on clips.  Any less than a couple of thousand rounds is disgraceful.  Buy accordingly.

Garand clips are like AK mags--you can't have "too many", can you?

I've got a few hundred myself.

I had 100 for my Garands, then on Monday I bought another 100 for some of my loose cartridges, plus another 380 rounds on clips.  I would have bought a couple of hundred more clips but I was also stocking up on Glock and AR mags.

Since they PING! when empty they will get lost or damaged over time.  I am buying for eventually handing down to grandkids so I want to get to about a thousand or so.
