| Any opinions on his Garands?Been looking to buy for a little while and it seems alot of folks like the CMP.Just wondering about other options,with a warranty. |
| I got one second hand last year. This being my first garand I have nothing to compare to, but the fit and finish is excellent, it has a new barrel and stock, the sights are dead on, and most importantly I like it. I had to replace the extractor because it was out of spec, looked like someone had a stuck case and hammered it out with the operating rod\charging handle instead of using a dowel rod. I dont know if that was when it was in this rifle or not, I suspect not as it had only had a few rounds down the pipe when I bought it. After I replaced the extractor it has been 100% reliable and goes "BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG-PING" when its supposed to. |
| I bought my first Garand from the Garand Guy a few years back. I bought the Super Premium model. CMP sells basically the same rifle for same price at this time. I think CMP calls it the Special Grade The only thing original on both rifles is the receiver. They each have new barrels and new wood. |
