Was thinking about purchasing one in the near future.  Saw an Israeli with the big eyes(better visibility) at a local gun show recently for a pretty decent price.  Anybody have any comments, suggestions as to what kind I should get?

Gas masks are serious pieces of equipment, and something that should be chosen carefully. If you are thoroughly familiar with gas mask maintenance, testing, and repair, then you might consider a surplus mask of undetermined functional reliability. If you're not, you should spend the extra money and buy a good mask from a reliable source. An NBC attack is the wrong time to find out if the bargain surplus mask that you bought is up to the task. Check this site out for a good gas mask. They have a good selection and reputation.

BEWARE OF ISRAEL GAS MASKS.

There was a general issue of gas masks by the Nation of Israel to its citizens back during Desert Shield before Desert Storm.

The government of Israel about a year ago issued a recall of all the old masks.  They were deemed to be too old and most on average were not well maintained so Israel wanted them all back. Well...a lof of folks didn't turn them over like they were suppose to and a ton of them found their way around to local PXs and gun shows.

OR, you're talking about just plain surplus masks that didn't for whatever reason measure up to the ones picked to be with soldiers or citizens...have to be a little worried about going with the D student of gas masks when they really count.
