Ok, folks. I've got a Stag 16" barrel and the gas port is at MOST half the diameter of the port in the gas tube/gas block. It doesn't cause a problem when I shoot the high dollar ammo, but I can't shoot Wolf. No kidding! I can chamber a round and fire, but it short cycles (ejects the spent casing but won't strip another round out of the magazine)
I'd like to make the hole larger... So here is the question; Can I use a dremel to make the hole larger and is there a specific bit I should use? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks |

The gas port in the gas block is intentionally MUCH larger than the barrel's gas port to allow for slight misalignment during assembly. DO NOT hog out the gas port in the barrel until it's the same diameter!
If I felt inclined to open up a gas port and was too cheap to send it to ADCO, I would do it in a drill vise mounted on a drill press, after carefully leveling and aligning everything. I would use drill bit of the appropriate size and go very slowly and carefully. If you don't know how large to make the gas port, you're probably going to trash your barrel. |

I measured .061, checked it, double checked and re-checked it again. Something else - make sure you have a carbine mainspring in a carbine, and a rifle mainspring in a rifle.
