Anyone have any experience with these?  Thinking about getting one of the used ones being offered for $269.00.  Wondering if anyone know anything about the quality of the used ones.

I love my trek. It's a very durable, compact, and quiet suppressor. Keep in mind that most suppressors do not include the muzzle device in the weight spec, so 17oz direct thread isn't so bad. It's really nice having a cheap can around to abuse, and boy this one can take it. Mine has been exposed to all kinds of nasty conditions.... sub zero temps, salt water, drops onto concrete, etc. Still sounds great.

The one thing I did notice was that the back pressure for this one is on the high side, so an adjustable gas block is highly recommended. But that's true for nearly all dedicated 556 cans so...

I have never heard of that site, and have no experience with them. If you are gonna buy, I'd give them a call and see what you're gonna get when you order. If they are police trade ins as he said, I'll bet they're gonna be a little scratched up but with less than 1000 rounds through them. Personally, I think it's kinda badass to own stuff that has seen military/police use. Also, if somebody from Gemtech wants to chime in on the warranty status of something like this, that'd be great.

My Trek has been great. Rugged, sounds great, and I got mine at a great price. It's the type of can too that is great to throw on somebody's AR to show them the benefits of suppressors.

All of this

Although right now I'm a bit sour in my current suppressor stable. Too many 556 cans

The Gemtech TREK is a great silencer, and we warrant it against material defects and workmanship. These have a long service life/round count, so getting a used TREK shouldn't be a mistake.
It is rated down to a 10.3" 5.56 barrel, and on a DI gun is hearing safe at that length. The serial number range from the picture in the link, shows these were Dept silencers at one point but look very clean and barely used.

Hope this helps?

I bought one back when Phoenix was blowing them out at $295. I had it on a 11.5" barrel for a few hundred rounds and a weld or something broke loose. I sent it in to gemtech and they said it was irreparable and paid for a new one including the stamp. I like the length, but it's a bit heavy. I haven't shot the new one so durability is questionable from my experience.  I'm sure I just got a bad one but it is what it is.

Thumbs up for Gemtech customer service though. They paid shipping, tax stamp, and cost of new suppressor to replace mine.

Please go shoot the new one, shoot the living stuffing out of it and if there is ever a problem - call me. You shouldn't have to hold back at all with a TREK on an 11.5" rifle, when it starts changing colors - let it cool.
If you have a FA then it's rated for 3-5 rds in 3-5 seconds, if it's semi auto then watch for the color changing after the forth or fifth 30rd mag.

Hope this helps?

Ah...I was hoping to be able to use this on a pistol build of about 9".

So let's clarify - is it rated differently on Piston guns?
Mine just got finished living on a 10.5" adams arms piston upper

lol
Is 9 more or less than 10.3"

I say shoot the piss out of it and don't expect Gemtech to warrant it.

I also got in on the $295 deal, and mine has performed great on a 12.5" barrel.  I don't think we'll ever see them back at $295 again, so with those ones looking pretty lightly used, I'd FO.

lurking on this thread as I have a Trek T in jail, hopefully to be released soon.

Given the different material, can I expect the same sort of durability out of the Trek T?

also have a Halo-GMT in the same jail...

It won't be warranted or hearing safe, but it will have a short OAL for sure.

Piston guns vent before the upper receiver, which makes them a touch louder than a DI gun. On a 10.5" piston gun, it may not be hearing safe.

Both the TREK-T and GMT-HALO are both great cans, and very similar to the TREK. The GMT-HALO is just a touch quieter than the TREK.

Gotcha

I just sold that upper, I was wondering if like HK roller lock guns or like a Sig556 or something would have a different warranted barrel length vs a DI gun, not specifically about dbs.

I picked up a Trek from Summit gun broker.
It'll be my first gemtech can, though I'll probably pick up a mist-22 sooner than later.

I've purchased a few guns from Mark @ Summit Gun Broker, no issues ever.
My carry G19 was a place trade in from years ago from him.

I'm actually super excited for the Trek.
It'll be on my dedicated 11.5 dedicated HD gun.

I am thinking one on my 10.5 inch PSA pistol with KAK Shockwave would make a great trunk gun.  Light and compact, cross state borders traveling.  Hmmmm......

Kind of wanting a second Recce 7, but have three 30 cal cans already.

I also got in on the $300 Trek special. It has a permanent home on my go-to 10.5" SBR.

If I had one request, it would be for wrench flats.

I paid $300 for mine, brand new.

Yes, it's a great can, I'd prefer the Griffin Spartan 3, because a.) it has wrench flats, b.) it can be pinned and welded to make it 1 stamp gun.

I've been called a pin head a few times, but I'll take that along with wrench flats.

Seems like these Trek threads are showing up in the forums since the used deal hit.  Like others, happy with my $295 Trek and wish it was 6oz lighter.  It lives on a dedicated 11.5 and is a lot of fun to shoot.

I also was one of the folks that jumped on the $295 Trek deal. I figured it would be a small dedicated can for my daughters AR.

Well - plans changed a little, after her not using it for almost a year, I decided it could be used on my 10.5" SBR...

With the LWRC stock, I can fit the rifle with the can attached into the Tennis Racket case I use for urban carry.

It's a great package!

Out of curiosity, how long ago was the $299 Trek deal?

Without my paperwork in front of me - about 1.5 years ago?  A police supply dealer up in PA was putting up 20 Trek's at a time on Gunbroker for $295 each. They would sell one batch, wait a week and put another batch up.

Sounds like the right timeframe. For me it was one of those "cart before the horse" situations we run into with suppressors but I'm happy I got mine. My Trek now resides on a 11.5 A1/C7 style rig.

It was from Phoenix Distribution(in PA) on Gunbroker, early to mid 2015.  Took them 4 months to file the form 3 to my dealer.  I think my final wait time was close to 12 months.
