Just bought my first good folder. A Benchmade Presidio 522. Can someone just let me know their "routine" for maintaining their good folders? How often, how much, ect.

I generally do not have any "heavy-duty" use for my knife. I use it as my primary carry blade, and cut boxes open on a daily basis, so a vigorous cleaning regimen is probably not needed versus some other users.

I have gotten both BlueLube and Tuf-Cloth for my knife, as per Benchmade's website.

Thanks for the help.

For carry knives, I blow them out with compressed air every few months to get pocket lint, etc out of the action.  I them use some knife oil and put a drop on each side of the blade pivot and work the action.  I them wipe down the blade with a silicon cloth to get any dirt, fingerprints, etc off the blade.

If the knife gets soaking wet, spray it out with a little WD40 and then clean it with a lint free wipe or towel.

Other than that, you should be good to go.

I also like to check the hardware on the knife every few months. The last thing I need is my pocket clip being loose!

One more question, all the video reviews I see online seem like their knives open more "freely" than mine. Mine seems a little tight. Any suggestions?

You can loosen the pivot, But I would try oil and a few hundred openings.
