I just dug out my reloading gear last night.  The ONLY piece that had any issue after sitting for 5 years was the Lyman 90gr. (or is it 96gr?) .380acp/9mm mold.  It was well oiled when I put it away in it's plastic bag from the factory...now bone dry and covered in a very light rust.  Is there any easy fix?...Maybe mineral oil/spirits, CLP, WD-40??

Thanks

Evaporust works great.
This us from the Internet, but my experience is good.

1) Easy way is to replace.

2) Cheap easy way is to buy phosphoric acid and let it sit for a hour or so.
Home depot has prep and etch that works well.

3) Next to free and easy is electrolysis if you have a 12VDC battery charger, water, baking powder and a hour or so of time.

I've tried all above to remove rust from steel, and while the first option does not work all the time on costly items for me, it does on cheap items.

The next best option I have used numerous times with absolutely amazing results is option three.

Good luck.

Naval Jelly, Evaporust, whatever. Lots of good working products for this.

I use Naval Jelly. It will remove the blue finish as well, and the mold will bake back to a pretty color with a few uses.

Now, if the mold is REALLY rusted, there's not a lot you can do. But even a rusty mold will probably drop pretty good bullets- the mold might just be ugly, though.
