| Tomorrow morning I am going to CMP. I am not a member or anything. So, where do I go when I arrive to submit my information to in order to become a member of CMP and then be allowed to purchase a rifle and ammo? |

You won't join the CMP, per say, but you will have to join a CMP-affiliated club. At Perry, you can join the GCA or ORPA at the CMP store (or at least used to be able to) You might want to call them today, to make sure that is still the case.
You're going to Perry, right? After you come in the main gates just follow the road that splits off to the left, along the fence and the CMP building will be on your right. It's well marked, so you shouldn't have any problems finding it. You can see it from the main intersection you'll go left from. Make sure you have your proof of citizenship and markmanship with you as well. |

Yes, I plan on bringing my DD-214, I hope that is proof enough, that at least proves I was in the US Army and thus used a rifle. Isn't proof of citizenship a birth certificate? |

Yep, a birth certificate is good enough. I don't know about the military stuff though. |

You need proof of citzenship, safe handling and marksmenship.
A social security card won't work. (I didn't know that until they told me, as you can have a SSN without being a citzen.) Past military services covers safe handling, so you just need the garand club, which I signed up for when I was there. Past military service indicates citzenship too. So, your DD-214 covers the first two things. Have fun! |
