got the new safe set in place, is where should I put the golden rod, floor or side wall half way up?? thanks for any help......

Heat rises. Mount horizontally on the floor behind your rifles. There will be a gap in the back because your rifles will be leaning. Do not mount it where it will touch and dry out a wood stock.
