CRKT Drifter

I like this knife, but I don't know a lot about knives. How do these hold up?

Not bad, for the price.

CRKT fit and finish can be hit or miss in my experience. The steel is a decent stainless that takes a hell of an edge, even if it doesn't hold it for a long time...

For a bit more you could get the Spyderco Tenacious or Persistence, which are really sweet blades and a good values.

I think It's a great little folding knife.
For the price it will cut with knives 3 times it's price.
If you don't get radical (read stupid) it will serve you for many years.
If you loose it you won't cry like you would with a $100 folder.
Crkt is good steel. It will take and hold an edge within reason and will be east to resharpen.
The lock is solid and it looks like most people will find it comfortable to use for extended periods.
The blade is thin but that is an asset if you want to use it to cut most everything.

What won't it do?  It won't take "stupid". If you beat the point into oak and snap it sideways it will break.  If you use it to split kindling you might damage the lock.

I bought a Spyderco Delica on a whim and it was too good a deal to pass up. I never owned one before as I thought they looked too...well, funky for my tastes. But, after seeing sooo many people rave over them, I figured I was missing something. Well, after a few weeks of carring it....i'm not. In it's defense, all the materials it's made from are first rate. It's just a bit too weird for me. I've gone back to carring my dads old Case Stockman. Bought in 1967 and still works like a champ. I'm on the fence about the Spyderco again. The Military, Paramilitary 2, and the Resilience look nice. I'll end up getting one...or all over time. But for now, the Case wins out.
