Hey Everyone, been looking at getting a pvs-14 and was just wondering... I know the ITT tubes and factory units are high performers... but I was at a gun show this past weekend and this company was selling all kinds of Nightvision, commercial gen 1 all the way up to gen 3 pinnacle.... and he had a pvs14 that had the ITT tube Gen 3 pinnacle, autogated and a Nightvision depot housing/body... the signal/noise was like 30.1 or something and after looking through the unit (with cap on)  I was pretty impressed and the unit had next to no blems.  The tube carried ITT's 5 year warranty and he even told me the whole unit had a 5 year warranty beyond just the tube.  My question is would you guys be comfortable purchasing something like this from a vendor at a gun show.  He told me I could purchase the unit for like $2900 if I paid cash, just a little more if with a card.  I know there are a bunch of different night vision configurations out there (home brews and what not) so I just wasn't sure...at that price point though I found myself if I could justify the extra 600-700 more for a factory Night Enforcer, plus I got to look at the Data card and see the unit I would possibly be purchasing in person as opposed to ordering one I have never seen/looked through..any input is appreciated, Thank You

Well only you can answer that question. If I had 3k I'd go build myself a few different units, but thats not the point. It seems like a good deal especially a tube with S/N over 30. Realistically ask yourself what is the likelyhood the tube data sheet matches the Serial on the tube or unit (you have to take it apart to check the tube) i.e. is the guy a reputable seller. You could probably email NV depot and ask them if they sold your dealer item so and so.
