Hello
I hope I am in the right area to ask this. I searched here but really did not find my answer. I am wondering if anyone can suggest a good quality Gunsmithing Screwdriver Kit. I really would like it to also include Allen key bits. I am far from a pro Gunsmith but know enough to see that my current screwdrivers are not cutting it.
Any help appreciated

I am not a gunsmith, and didn't stay in a Holiday Inn.

I like the Brownells fixed blade offerings, they have hollowground blades, very well shaped.  I have the 'complete' set, and that investment ha served me well over the years.

I agree with what the previous two replies suggest. Brownell's Magna-Tips.

Hollow ground  bits are key. My dad was a gunsmith and he bought me a set. Don't loan them out to idiots. Ask me how I know.

Brownell's Magna-Tip are the industry standard.

They're HARD, extremely smooth, precision formed to properly fit slots without "dinking" them up, and come in more sizes than anyone else.
Due to the many sizes, you'll seldom ever need to grind a bit to fit, and they sell the super thin bits to fit European double guns that have extremely thin slots.

Best, if you ever break a bit, just email Brownell's and they'll send you a replacement FREE.  You don't even need to return the broken one.

I recommend buying the biggest set you can afford, then add bits as you need them.
Brownell's also sell Allen and other specialty bits for the sets.

I recommend buying one of the "law enforcement" size handles. The larger handles are just too big to give good control, and the "stubby" bits are just to short.
They sell handles with magnetic retention and clip-tip retention.  I'd buy one of each, you'll use both.

Bottom line, the Brownell's sets are expensive, but you only buy one a lifetime because of the high quality.  Other sets are either made in China and are substandard, or you have to grind them to fit.  You'll find yourself having to buy other sets of drivers as the lesser quality drivers get damaged or ground down.
You'll only have to buy the Brownell's ONCE.

I have a Brownell's set of Magna-Tip drivers that have served me very well for many years.

But if money isn't an object, the fixed-blade ones are the very best, as a previous poster suggested.

Brownells did their homework-the handles are decent size and shape, the shanks are molded fully into the tough handles, there's a hex boss on the shank to wrench on for really tough screws.
Most important-the blade/bit steel is hard and tough, but not too brittle- just perfect.

They are just a pleasure to use

I have to say the Brownells bits as well. Been using them for years. I have also used the fixed blade ones which are great and one of these days I will put some money aside and buy a set.
