I inherited a bunch of reloading supplies and this powder was among the stuff. I cant find H870 listed in the Hodgdon catalog. Anyone know what this powders characteristics are? The guy I got the stuff from reloaded everything from .22-250, .270, .338, 7mm RM, .45-70, shotgun

would it be comparable to IMR 7828? I may be able to use if I can reload 7mmRM with it but since it doesn't appear in any current reloading manuals I need a little guidance. I have no experience with either H-870 or IMR-7828. I just looked in a reloading manual for a general answer. From Lyman # 49 page 69, "H-870 This is a very slow burning speed powder with limited practicable applications. It is used in very large capacity cases with heavy weight bullets." No loads for H-870 in 7mm RM in Lyman # 49. Not until the case capacity get to the 7mm STW do loads for H-870 appear. |
