| I have a small stack-on cabinet and my collection has out grown it, but main concern is where and how to keep my home defense weapon (Mossberg 500 loaded with Law Enforcement low recoil OO buckshot). Keeping it in the bedroom closet or under the bed seems like the most obvious choice, but I don't feel like that is very secure. Thinking maybe keeping the trigger lock on and the key in a nearby but hidden place, I could always lock the bedroom door and arm myself, call 911, etc... Suggestions? |

buy a handgun they are easier to shoot one handed and harder to have them taken away. and if you believe that bs about only have to rack the gun get a tape recorder and play that sound back from another room while you blast the bg with your HG. are you even allowed to defend yourself in NJ? what exit?

| Exit 1, the beggining lol...I dont know what the HD laws are, but honestly if the BG is in my house he's going down, my life is most important....but anyways don't have money for a handgun right now plus here in the peoples republic or new jersey you need an individual permit for each handgun, can take months to get after application. |

If you have kids in the house, keep a trigger lock on during the day and remove the lock before u go to bed. Don't rely on any one else when the life of u and your family is on the line.

Since you live alone, you don't have to worry about the safe storage thing. That's helps.
If you're worried about security, lock it to the bed with some SS towing chain and a hefty Master-Lock. No one will drag a bed through the streets just to steal one gun. Keep a copy of the Master-Lock key on your key-chain with a spare somewhere else, and unlock your shotgun as soon as you walk in the door with the mail. |

A friend of mine moved recently but he's had two shotgun lock systems.
The first was a Mossberg "Lock-Box" and the current one is a Santa Cruz. Trick is, he mounted them behind the window curtain by his bed. Most thieves will head straight to the bedroom, because that's almost always where the guns and jewelery are stashed. However, not that many burglars think to look behind an open curtain on a window. The curtain covers the gun which has the lock device bolted to the wall, and it can't be seen from outside the house either. All he has to do is reach behind the curtain and unlock the device, and he can do it without getting out of bed. Even if they find it, they can't get the gun out of the lock, or the lock device off the wall. http://www.santacruzgunlocks.com/index.html http://www.mossberg.com/cgi-bin/commerce.exe?preadd=action&key=95092&reference=/cgi-bin/commerce.exe%3Fsearch%3Daction%26keywords%3D%26searchstart%3D0%26template%3DPDGCommTemplates\MossPdgNav\SearchResult.html%26category%3DSECU |
