Ok I admit it. I need help. I just put a nikon scope on my m1a using a S.A, 3rd Gen. mount and Lep. Qick release rings. I spent a very trying three hours out at the range today and ended up with the scope bottomed out and still hitting abot 4 inches high at 100 yards. I had the mount put on by a smith here in the area and he usually does great work. Anyone had this problem or have an idea how I can fix this?

I am not sure if this is applicable or correct, but I have been thinking about this problem.  It sounds like the mount (assuming that the scope is not the problem) is angled too far down in the front.  It should be fairly simple to loosen the screws that holds the rear contact point (bullet guide) and with the main screw loosened just a bit to realign the mount ever so slightly higher in the front.

But it should be just a smidgen... raising the front part of the mount should get your bullets to print lower...

Now, the Gunsmith should be able to perform this with less problem than if you did it yourself... but it is doable.

You really do not need to move the mount more than just a very small amount.  Being installed like this is actually GREAT for long distance shooting... you will have the max elevation from your scope.

Think about it and give it a try if this makes sense... I can do this with my ARMS mount but I usually go the other way... I want the max elevation...

Good Luck...
