So I am interested in a basic NV monocular. Something I can use, hiking or no light camping to just 'scan' an area, I have seen pictures of the differences between Gen 1 gen 2 gen 3. I see the huge difference between them. But is something like that, that is priced over 1000 going to benefit me for basic use? I know im going to need a NV flashlight. But ya... any input would be helpful.... -VegasEgo |
Hi, as most know here, the best entry NV device is a Gen 2 such as the D-300. The Gen 1 systems have very poor resolution and not worth the money even with a IR illuminator. Save for a Gen 2 and of course a Gen 3 is always the best of the best. Hope this helps. Vic |
Cheap and best are two different things. In NV you get what you pay for. The best bang for your buck, is like Victor said, one of his D-300 GEN II MS units. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the D-300 GEN II MS uses Litton milspec intensifier tubes. Give Victor a call -- he has a great reputation and can answer all your questions. Something to remember is that, who you buy from is as important as what you buy. |
I believe i have seen used d300 gen 2 go on our EE for under 1k...you have to be patient, keep your eyes open and be FAST brfore someone else nabs it... |
