I think you are about to tell us! Seriously. I have a couple of Hiperfire triggers. I love them. They’ve changed some of the model nomenclature so I have the older two spring design. They are the best trigger for x39 (harder primers). They can increase hammer spring without adversely affecting the trigger feel. Of course in semi only. If I didn’t have the auto Geissele, I’d own this trigger. |

I don't use my M16 for semi auto shooting, and when I shoot the M16, I just squeeze the mil spec trigger. The idea of an "improved" M16 trigger is totally lost on me. FWIW, I've tried for years to learn how to play the guitar to no avail; and as I tell everyone, "I don't have any magic in my fingers." I'm sure that there others who can and do appreciate the value of upgraded feel M16 triggers, and the best of luck to all. MHO, YMMV, etc. Be well. |

I got it, and played with it. I can't help but to compare it to a JP because that's what I have and use. Well I have a Geissele too but I don't use it. Pros: It seems to be of good quality fit and finish wise. Cool scalloped trigger! Meh: It basically functions like a standard trigger/hammer setup but with a mechanism that adds two coil hammer springs. It seemed to function fine without that mechanism (I took it right out and it still ran just fine). It offers a little trigger weight adjustment in the form of the two auxiliary coil hammer springs (it comes with two sets of two) but I found little felt difference between the different springs. It says the lighter springs are 2.5lbs trigger pull but it felt much higher than that to me. JP also uses different springs to adjust trigger weight, I think it comes with 3 sets. I've only ever used the lightest trigger/hammer springs. JP says in their documentation that the light hammer spring may not be enough for hard primers but I've never had a light strike problem. I had to open my gas port one click to get it to run reliably with the auxiliary springs in place. Cons: A good deal more difficult to install than a Colt (standard), JP, or Geissele. But it is a great opportunity to play one of my favorite games: Find the springs. There are no other adjustments available. Unlike the JP which can be adjusted for creep and over-travel. It has a lot of creep, I don't like creep. The creep was pretty smooth as far as creep goes (it didn't feel like it was covered with hair). Think Ted Bundy not Joe Biden. It has about the same over travel as a Colt, maybe a bit more. I find too much over-travel makes it hard to squeeze off a single round and I couldn't get it to do a single. That may be down to practice as I have no trouble doing singles with a JP or Colt. I don't really see the point of it. Seems to have added weight and complexity and achieved the same function as any other FCG. Summary and TLDR: I fired 120 rounds with it about half of that on auto. Once I fixed the gas issue it ran just fine. Trigger pull is heavy even with light springs. Much creep More over-travel than I like. I would place it well ahead of a standard Colt, but inferior to a Geissele or JP. If I wanted a trigger that I could just buy, drop in, and use I would take the Geissele. Ultimately it isn't available in FDE and doesn't match my wristwatch; so my JP trigger is back in the receiver and this trigger is in a box likely to never be seen again. I am mostly an SAA, Marlin, 1911 and Bolt action guy. My delicate girly fingers like a very light trigger with 0 creep. I guess I am saying this trigger may not be for me but for another guy that likes manly triggers this may be just the ticket. Addendum: Contemplating Dremil scalloping my JP triggers..... |
