I have a few questions about the HK53. I am currently looking to get a SBR HK clone, either an MP5 or an HK53. I like the factory SBR Vector HK 53 clones, but I am concerned that the HK53 may be extremely loud with the short barrel. Is this gun any louder to shoot than a 16" barrel AR15?

How is the recoil on the HK53 compared to an 9mm MP5? I have shot a post sample MP5 and loved it. It was even great to shoot on semi. I also really like the short compact feel of an MP5.

And one last question, is there any way to get ahold of the HK style 3 or 4 prong flash supressor that was used on the latest real HK 53s and install it on a Vector clone? I have noticed that the Vectors come standard with the HK 93 style flash suppressor.

Thanks

I have an SBR'd Vector V-53, and YES it is louder. The loudness factor always goes up as the barrel length gets shorter.

I've never fired a 9mm MP5, so I cannot offer a comparison, but recoil is very manageable on the V-53, especially with it's weight.

Yes, the Vortex flash hiders are available. I can't think of a source off the top of my head, but do a Google on HK Vortex and some should come up. They are rated very well.

IMHO, I think you should go with the HK-53 clone over the MP5 clone. I could just never justify spending that kind of money for a semi-auto 9mm SBR. But full-auto would be a different story.

I'd go with the Vector 53, it's more likely to run right out of the box, and if it does'nt Vector will fix it on their dime, rather than you having to send it to an HK smith and pay to make it run.
Yes, rifles tend to get louder, the shorter you make the barrel.

Yes, considerably so, also much more concussion.

It's more than a 9mm as one would expect, but still very manageable.

Yes, a factory four-prong hider will fit the Vector guns and can be had for $125-140 depending on condition. There are also some clone hiders floating around that cost less. Both types occasionally come up for sale here, and on HKPro.

The pronged FH works well, however they do produce an annoying (at least to me) 'PING' when fired.

Thanks for the replies-

I guess another bonus about going with the vector is that it is available as an SBR from the factory on a Form 4, so I don't have to worry about getting a pistol or rifle and having it cut down or adding a stock on a form 1 and then having to engrave the lower.

+1 to all this and if noise or pressure bothers you, stop...

Don't buy this gun...

I stopped shooting it indoors after I knocked off a ceiling tile, singed walls, and pissed off other shooters with rapid fire.

Although my clone isn't Vector built, I'm pretty sure their stuff is acceptable.

What kind of locking piece do you use?

Roger that! Every fire a full auto 51? Good times. Blast is an understatement.

How does it suppress, as in function or sound reduction?

Functions 100% with or without the suppressor (YHM Phantom).

Sounds reduction, you get what you get with an 8" barrel, not as quiet with the same suppressor on a 16" barrel, but crap, it's all about fun.

Locking peice, stock I think.  I'll have to take it out to check.
