Does anyone know a link that goes through how to build a gun from a kit?

Is there a good quality US made reciever to assemble on?

Are there a lot of special tools needed? (I just bought a bunch of tools to build a FAL and don't want to have to do that again)

Probably your best bet is to get some input from someone who has done a H&K build themself before.
For me, I have always found the best route to give all the parts and the receiver to a trusted gun smith and have them do the work along with refinishing the entire gun.  With this route, you should have a 100% gun and a lifetime warrantee.

Maybe I just don't have enough time, experience or desire to do a build myself either.

You will need a welder. You might need a press. You will need a drill. You could use a mill but you can get buy with a hacksaw and file.

Thats all I used to build mine. My kit had a new barrel already installed in the trunnion. So I just welded thew new trunion into the new reciever and that was that, no need for a press. I had a friend mill out the trigger pack for me and weld in the pin. I also had a friend weld in the shelf in the trigger housing.
