Here's a quick front sight tweak I did on my build. I didn't like the black sight––easy to lose against a down range background. So, I used some reflective tape I had laying around. This way, if I didn't like the mod, or the color of the reflective tape, I could change it without screwing up the front sight post.
Tools You Need: 1. Ruler. Metal is best because you use it as a guide to cut against with the X-Acto knife. Gives a nice clean and squared edge. 2. X-Acto knife. I use a standard No.11 blade for most projects and that's what you see pictured. 3. Reflective tape of your color choice. I've seen this stuff in white, red, blue, yellow, etc. I used yellow in my project. STEP 1: First clean the sight post with a Q-Tip and a little rubbing alcohol to get any grease/residue off. http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/502/gsgfig10.jpg STEP 2: After cutting the tape to 3mm wide and the length to your needs (I cut mine to 7mm long), use tweezers (or the tip of the X-Acto blade) to position the tape on the sight post. Once you have it lined and square to the post GENTLY rub it down to make sure the adhesive sticks. http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/7927/gsgfig11.jpg STEP 3: You're done! Wow, that was quick. Took me about 5 minutes max. Like the pic says, instant Hi-Vis sight that can easily be changed out if you want. Using this tape, any little amount of light hitting it reflects brightly. Sure, not a tritium or light rod sight, but you just saved some big bucks (for more goodies and ammo) and made a decent one for practically nothing. http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/7908/gsgfig12.jpg ENJOY!

Thanks for the idea. I went to the local graphics shop. The owner who is a friend of mine, gave me a scrap piece of weatherproof reflective vinyl.

Nice job. Glad you liked the idea. |

I decided to do the entire front sight, including the ring. In low light you can see the front sight with the weatherproof reflective vinyl.
