I have a HRT M14 bolt, and plan to use it as a replacement in my Polytech M14s rifle.
Want to make sure that the HRT bolt can be fitted into the Poly. The conversion would be done by a highly trained and skilled armorer. Is this bolt going to be usable for the conversion? Have anyone else used a HRT bolt this way? As a side note, my Poly is doing well with its original factory bolt. No issues what so ever, so far. I bought the bolt several years ago as an insurance policy. Even then, the M14 bolt was getting scarce and pricey. I've upgraded many other parts of my Poly to USGI parts. The bolt conversion is the last item to tend to. |
| +1 You will be GTG on HRT. And Warbird is who I used as well. He does an awesome job with good price's and a fast turn around. If your barrekl is still in good shape with Warbird you will be able to keep it. Some other's require you to purchase a barrel when doing the swap. |

Any TRW, Winchester or HRT bolt will work just fine.
The USGI SA bolts are a bit to tight because they're a shorter bolt. Also, you can keep the Chinese chrome lined barrel, no need for barrel change. I've had reports from customers who say that accuracy (on average) is about 1"-1-1/4" at 100 yards after the USGI bolt conv. Warbird |

FWIW, My Poly recently gave me 4.02" five round group at 100 yards, using Cavim surplus ammo. Iron sights off a bench and a sandbag. (Cavim ammo is known for only delivering 4 to 6" groups anyway). I'm shooting the Cavim up and retaining the cases for reloading. Groups opened up a bit as the barrel got hotter.
Gaining additional accuracy is always great, but I'm interested in gaining compatibility and durability from this rifle. Me and my Poly need to get through these hard times, without any issues or breakdowns. |
| Just a thought. My Norinco went 15k rounds with just routine maintanance. Shooting every kind of surplus that could be found cheap. Right at the end I was still getting 1.5 to 2.0 MOA out of it. And scored better than average for me in our clubs Hi power match's that I shot. I did not do anything special to the rifle until that 15k mark and than started replacing parts with USGI. The sights were the first thing to give me trouble. Than springs. Once in a while the op rod would pop off on the last round. Than the barrel just started printing shotgun patterns. Off to Warbird and now it's back shooting great. Don't sell the Chi Com rifle's short. My Father in law bought a new Springer. And my Norinco is a better rifle IMO. |
