| I have a Spikes ST-15 16" LE M4 Carbine and have not started relaoding for it yet but plan do as I have just received all my dies etc... The rifle did not come with a tag to indicate where the HS was set and since I control how far I bump the shoulder back this in a pretty good number to know and I don't have the HS gages to measure it so is there a way to shut off the gas so I can sort of fire form the case to get a shoulder measurement, I have called Spikes and left a message |

Just follow the instructions on your dies and adjust them appropriately.
In your average .223 barrel you aren't going to have any crazy issues This +1. Ar's that I know of don't come with HS tags. Just buy the gauges you need, shoot the rifle and use those cases. Don't overthink this...................... |
| I would not think I could get a true reading extracting the brass from a semi auto, for instance my M1A is HS at 1.631 so I bump the shoulder back to 1.626" but if I measure the brass coming out after firing I normally gain a few thousanths so since I don't have HS gages just looking for some insight, I guess I could strip the bolt and size until the lugs lock and ago another .005" |
