Picked up the 590A1 at the end of February. I wanted an upgrade from my old 500, specifically to shoot some slugs at longer distances. Attached File I didn’t get around to shooting it for weeks. I already had Federal Flight Control, but bought more Hornady Black and Critical Defense with the versatite wads, plenty of bird shot to break it in. We finally caught a free afternoon and took my son with me to burn off some of that young teenage angst. We set up at 50 yards, every shot with the 590 was low. I jacked the rear sight all the way up, trying to put the top of the post in the center. It’s just not working for me. If I move up to 35 yards, I’m at the belly button. 25 yards were dead center mass. Attached File Attached File I think it’s this damn red post. It’s not a dot and it’s throwing me. I did some measuring and ordered a Marbles 37MR front dovetail thinking it would be slightly shorter. I got it in today, It’s a lot shorter! Attached File Possibly too short. Thoughts? I could bring the rear sight all the way down, still might be too high. I’m wondering if I might be better off with this front sight. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1005914032?pid=693605 It’s technically the same height as the Mossberg factory sight, but if I center on the dot, that should raise my point of impact. Anyone have a similar problem or use the Meprolight sight? |
