I saw an M1A recently with what looks like a white paint stamp (circular, but inarticulate) on the fat part of the op rod handle on an older Sprinfield M1A.  The store owner told me that it was some type of "arsenal stamp".  Does anyone know what this means???  Thanks

Winchester M14 operating rods were sometimes marked with the Defense acceptance stamp below the drawing number and the CAGE Code (66118 for Winchester) at the middle of the rod.
