I'm looking at getting a bolt gun in 223 but the guy says its an older model that just says Rem 700. No ADL, PSS...etc.

How do I find out the model?
Any way to tell by the serial number?

Better make sure of the twist or you will not be shooting the heavier bullets. My 700 in .223 has 1-14" twist

You probably know this but it will only say 700 on the receiver. The bottom metal or lack of it and the stock are most of what makes it an ADL/ PSS.

Bottom metal will determine if it is an ADL or BDL.
Barrel length and contour plus stock will tell you if it is a PSS, or other model.
All Rem 700 receivers are the same.

it has a wood stock and he said the barrel is not a bull barrel but heavier than the standard
I'll check the twist
