I recently won a gun in a gun show that I don't really need but everyone always needs another gun right? My choice is to take an $1100 gift card for Cabelas or a 700 VTR with a Leupold 6-18 Vari-X II LRD reticle. Seems like the dollar value is there to take the gun/scope combo.
Would you take the gun and possibly sell it, spend the gift card, or sell the gift card? Figure I could sell the card for $1000. Could I sell the combo for more than that unfired? If you selected the combo for resale, what caliber would you get? |

| I'd take the gift card, seems like an easy choice to me. What is it about the triangular barrel that appeals to you? I don't know anyone who likes that model, but it does have some takers. It's just that with a gift card, you can buy a 700 SPS/AAC, et al... for about 5-700.00 and then have 400.00 left over and you can get exactly what you would like. |

Got the certificate today. The drawing said it was for a 700 VTR in .204 Ruger.
Since the .204 isn't in the lineup this year, I am not sure if this is for the 2014 version with the bipod in FDE or the old 2013 version. If I can get a 2014 model in .260 Remington, I am going to take a chance and get that and sell the scope, downgrade to a 3x9 or something, and get some dies and brass. If they tell me my options are a 2013 in .204, I'll be shopping around the store or selling the certificate. |
