Getting my trust done next week, then on to silencer shopping....finally! Need some help. I want to do a rifle suppressor first and had to decide between 5.56, 6.8 SPC, and 308. Going to be practical here and start off with a suppressor for a 14.5" mid-length AR.
Looking at these three so far. Don't really want to spend more than $550. Can anyone help a newb out? 1) AAC 556-SD - 31dB reduction, 51T mount - I assume I will need to purchase a 51T muzzle device from AAC $550 2) SilencerCo Specwar 5.56 - 133dB, comes with Trifecta 1/2X28 flash hider! $550 3) YHM 5.56 Phantom QD - 35dB reduction, Phantom flash hider (does the Phantom FH come with the suppressor) $465 |

Any cons to using 7.62 suppressor on a 5.56? Noise reductions, POI shift, etc? Quoted:

Why not just buy a 7.62 suppressor to use on all 3 calibers first, then add a 5.56 suppressor down the road if you feel the need for another (and you probably will)? Any cons to using 7.62 suppressor on a 5.56? Noise reductions, POI shift, etc? Weight mainly. If I was you I'd get a Saker 7.62 to use on 5.56 and 7.62. Just pretend you're getting two cans in one. If weight is not a concern and the Saker is too expensive get a Specwar 7.62. It beat everyone it went against in Silencershops .308 shootout in DB reduction. |

I see that the Saker 7.62 only lists the Trifecta flash hider connect while the 5.56 model states optional mounts like 51T and direct thread ? |

They share mounts, MAAD modules and end caps. I have the YHM mount for both the 762 and 556 (both still in jail) and the mounts are identical. You can use the trifecta, 51T, ASR (Specwar), Y-mount or direct thread modules on the 556, the 556K and the 762. Silencer Shop even lets you choose when you order. |

As usual here, FPNI Well let me ask this....if the goal here is to get a 7.62 suppressor for use on my .308, 6.5C, 6.8 SPC, and .223....what would be a good choice and is there one muzzle device that I could use on all of said rifles so that I can swap the suppressor back and forth? All my rifles are 5/8-24 threads except the obvious 1/2-28 on the 5.56 AR |

All my rifles are 5/8-24 threads except the obvious 1/2-28 on the 5.56 AR Swapping muzzle devices between hosts is a bad idea. If you use a muzzle brake, you will need to time it with shims (which will vary for each barrel). On either a flash hider or muzzle brake, you will want to Rocksett the device onto the barrel so that it does not come off with the suppressor. With at least four hosts, you are looking at $300-400 in mounts right there on top of the cost of the suppressor. I really like my Specwar 762 and the ASR mount system, but it is going to be on the long side. If you don't mind that then I think it's something that meets your requirements. That and you can get in on the Silencer Shop $99 Spectre II deal while you're at it. |

I have 3 AAC 51T muzzle brakes I plan to use with a 762SDN6. One is a 7.62mm 5/8x24 and the other two are 5.56mm 1/2x28. |

All my rifles are 5/8-24 threads except the obvious 1/2-28 on the 5.56 AR I had the same goal and no need for muzzle devices on my 30cal rifles. A local dealer had a Liberty Freedom Titanium 308 for $458 5/8x24 direct thread so I bought that, and building a new AR upper with a 16" middy chopped to 12.5" and threaded 5/8x24, will be suppressor only use I expect it would not cycle without one. Unless you are using a switchblock or war sports upper to cut back gas shooting ARs suppressed is not all that much fun because of violent cycle and blow back, and still pretty loud. |

The muzzle devices for 556 guns will accept the 308 can on all of those suppressors if that's what your asking. The muzzle devices can cost anywhere from ~$70 (Saker, Specwar) up to $100-140 (AAC) each, so it's something to consider if you need a lot of them for all your guns. |

Even if it cost $300 - $400 for compatible muzzle devices, it's till cheaper than going out buying a suppressor for each rifle. I just figured it was a reasonable option since everyone is recommending a 7.62 suppressor to use on multiple rifles. Definitely considering the Specwar |

Im just joining the nfa game and waiting for a spectre 2 to show up to my dealer to pay for it/send form 4..
But i also am also looking at a 556 can, i only have 556 AR's and a tthis moment and no time soon do i plan on 30 cal or below to suppress.. My local dealer $565 OTD for 556-sd and $915 OTD on the SDN-6.. Also to note with AAC's promotion going on $200 for every can you buy to spend at the store on mounts and such, so right there gets you 2 FH's or a brake and FH, etc..essentially free.. |
