| I've just stumbled on 100 or more linked .50 cal rounds with a head stamp of TW 52. Brass casings w/ silver painted tips. Any ideas on what it is and what it's worth? |
| Update: One string has a Lake City 81 head stamp. Now I wonder where it came from. This family is pretty liberal and doesnt mess with guns so I have to wonder where it came from. Are all the cases reloadable? Also looking for help delinking them to clean them up better. |

To get them off the links all you need to do is grab a hold of the one on the end and twist and pull and it comes right out. Ed |

The better string of 51 stuff is coming off ok by tapping the empty link with a light ball hammer to break the crusty seal. The crusty 51 stuff is a little harder. The 81 stuff is a pain because of the clip on the base of the casing.
Every 5th round on all 3 strings is a tracer. Could I put some type of cloth wheel on my bench grinder to polish the cases? Don't want them to get too hott for obvious reasons. |
| I am kind of worried about anything that has been stored in an attic for years. First unless proven otherwise I would not shoot any of that stuff. So, one of the first things I would do is pull down a round or two to check out the powder. If it is stuck together like a glob. Pull the bullets for components and pitch the rest. Unless someone knows how to get that crap out safely. |
