My dad inherited a fixed blade knife. Came in a German M8A1 sheath so same blade profile as M8s, M4s, etc.
Not a bayonet. Green fiberglass or plastic grips. Blade is silver. Thoughts? |

Looks like some kind of West German M3 variant. Boker makes an M3 repop maybe this was experimental. We had a quartermaster variant that had a prybar pommel but the nomenclature escapes me. Eickhorn had submitted stuff to the US in knife and bayonet trials before too, but never got a contract. This is an Eickhorn M3 variant sold in their military knife line as a "Recon" knife http://www.youwantit2.com/EICKRECONFORCE.jpg Swedes farted around with the M3 design too. http://www.gotavapen.se/gota/artiklar/knivar/swed_knife.htm I'm betting alot of countries like Greece, Italy, France, Denmark and the Netherlands have variants too. The M3 and M4 were given away like candy after the war and I'm sure they were cost effective to produce in those countries with thriving cutlery industries. |
