I am looking at getting either a powder dispenser & electronic scale or a scale/dispenser combo. I am kinda leaning towards keeping them seperate items. looking for pro's & con's of each to help me with my decision making. Suggestions are welcome as well. I am looking at something like this...

RCBS Uniflow Powder Measure or Hornady Lock-N-Load Powder Measure & a RCBS RangeMaster 750

or

RCBS ChargeMaster 1500 or Hornady Lock-N-Load Auto Charge

I have the RCBS Chargemaster 1500 Combo.  It may be my single favorite upgrade in all my reloading gear.  If it ever breaks I will by another one the next day.  I use it for all my hunting/precision loads.  For plinking I use my progressives powder drop or for stuff that is not at max I will use my uniflow powder measure.

I haven't used hornady's scale/dispenser combo.  If you research it and find that it doesn't have any problems I would think it would be just as good as the RCBS.

In my opinion you should get both (arfcom way).  Get a powder measure (uniflow) and get a scale/dispenser combo.  I use both depending on the circumstances.

You'll need a powder measure such as the Uniflow or Redding and a beam scale.  If you also want an electronic scale, get one with 1500 grain capacity if you can.  I have an old RCBS/Ohaus scale that is great in every way except for it's 500 grain capacity.

I'll second the Chargemaster 1500  recommendation. I bought mine a year ago and I don't know why I didn't buy one sooner. Before that I used a RCBS electronic scale. I still have it but since I bought the 1500 I put my old scale back in the box. I don't remember the model but it has been discontinued for some time. It is a good scale though. I have never had a problem with it and I bought it in '97.

I have several powder measures.

Uniflo, ok needs a $40 upgrade (micrometer stem) to be the equal of the Hornady.

Hornady, a good measure, used mine for over 10 years. Then found a Redding.

Redding, a superior PM, and the one I would recommend. Wish everyone could find them at the funshow for $30, like I did twice. Did some tuning to mine.

A powder measure takes a little skill to operate and get consistent charges.

Not hard, but takes a little practice. Consistent throwing motion and settling the powder is key.

Powder selection is something that matters when you use a PM. Best to not choose extruded powder with long lengths. Like Varget.

Better choice is RE-15 and IMR-8208 XBR, they measure fine through a PM, and are just as accurate.

Some people like to push a button and have a charge delivered.

Good luck to them.
