I'd like to get a thermal scope.  Those who are familiar with the field, what can I get in terms of a scope or monocular for a couple thousand?

Really need to get a better idea of your budget and intended use. Couple thousand as in 2k? 3k? Hunting? What kind of ranges?

Not a lot but maybe look in the ee?  You have anything to shoot with at night currently?  NV or anything?  If you already have a way to shoot then maybe start with a handheld.  There's an hd38a for sale in the ee and a couple others.

The ATN ThOR-HD 384 1.25-5X thermal scope has a list price of $ 1,999.

Go to the ATN Smart HD Owners Group on Facebook and ask to join. They routinely approve these requests so people can research the ATN scopes.

For your budget and for the weekend warrior types the ATN ThorHD is a good choice. I've been happy with mine and have quite a few hours behind the scope now with no issues (tho my first unit had a warranty issue right out of the box).

I have seen the 1.25-5x 384 unit for sale new with a full warranty for $1689. If you have the extra cash I would go with the 2x version, but the 1.25x model is great for scanning with its wide field of view. You will want to add a ARMS#17 QD mount to the 1.25x model so you can use it as a handheld if you want ($20 on ebay).

Its a damn good unit for the price.
If you are interested PM me and I'll see if he still wants to sell it.
