Greetings.
I'm in contact with a private party seller with a image intensifier described as "Gen 3 Pinnacle". In emails with the seller he has stated: I never put this set together I do know their mil spec if I can find the auction paper work said mil spec and so did the original box. my complete set had no blems. they where clear as hell. I used them for coyote hunting before I sold them I asked him if it had any blems and he told me: it a gen 3 pinnacle ill give a model number when I get home I got a few tube at a auction build one set. they ran great but I never really used them so I sold them. I had this for a few year forgot about it the save. As well as: I cant remember an my wife can not find the paper work so i all ready sent you the itt number the s/n 195185 then their a DC 0650 I attempted to compare the information provided in the Omni Level Comparison Chart but wasn't able to figure out details on the image intensifier. Here's a pic provided by the seller:
Can anybody provide additional insight in to what type of image intensifier I'm looking at? |

Well, it is not milspec. That much I can tell you. Does it whine when powered up ? If so autogated and if not DC powered. Not familiar with the power supply so I suspect a newer tube. It is ITT and fairly recent in manufacture as to my guess. I haven't seen it in person yet, so no idea if it whines. I'd still need to track down a PVS-14 parts kit if I pick up the tube. Mostly I'm trying to figure out if it's worth taking a gamble on. The guy selling it is asking $800. |

I've seen a few similar tubes and I think what you have there is a ITT commercial tube from 2006. The numbers on the back of the tube solely relate to the power supply; this is one that ITT made vice their old suppler K&M. The part number can be tied to gated/non-gated (although not by me), then you have the serial number of the power supply, and then the DC0650, the DC number should be the year made "06" and the week "50" the 50th week of 2006. It could be anything, as noted it's not a Mil tube. There were some Select A tubes (SELA) that came out around that time that were non-gated and thin film (most silver bullet ANVIS style) but without more information there isn't anyway to tell.
For a modern, non-abused GEN3 variable gain tube, $800 is fair, IMHO. |
