[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Help with mounting a red dot sight

I bought a Tasco red dot sight today, was going to mount it on my 10/22 using the factory mount. I didn't want to cut open the sight package in case I need to take it back, but it looks like the factory mount is not wide enough. Is the factory mount wide enough? The sight package says it will fit on center fire weaver mounts. Help!

It should work, give it a try. If it doesn't, you have a scope to put on something else or you can take it back.

How old is your 10/22? Ruger started including the Weaver mounts only in the last few years. If it is the old tip-off style you'll need to buy a Weaver style base, which are not expensive.
