I just bought a Springfield SAR-4800 with the ugly thumbhole stock

I want to replace the stock and front grips with a wood set from Iron wood designs

Here is what I do not know

how do I get off the politically correct stock????

How does a pistol grip hold on a SAR-4800 (I am just fishing & hoping for an answer here)

What do I need to do this???  I know a stock Furrnel, butt plate, plate washer, and screw

Is there anything else???

Thanks in advance & wish me luck

BTW I checked FILE FALS and couldn't find an area for build help or anything of much use here If I am missing something please let me know

You need the tool available for removing buttstocks. It makes the job very straightforward. Try gunthings.com, if they are still around.  If I recall, to get the pistol grip loose you may have to take out the hammer. Other than the tool for removing the buttstock, the rest of disassembly is straightforward and intuitive.

When you change that import configuration, you will then need to meet the .922r requirements of seven US parts (with the muzzle device).

and the FAL Files Gunsmithing and BIY forum is one of the best on the net. But I don't think that you can get in without being a member - as hacker prevention.
