Anyone have any comments on Berrys 200gr 45cal HBRN plated bullets? Use load recipes for 200gr LRN? Does the hollow base affect performance in some particular way? Thanks for your comments guys.

I don't know about Berry's but I have some hollow base 200grn .45acp Bear Creek Supply moly bullets and they have the same overall shape as their 230grn moly bullets, just with a hollow base.  Therefore, they have the same bearing surface as the longer 230grn bullet.  In addition, it is generally thought that the hollow base helps the bullet obturate into the lands and groves giving a better gas seal.

I loaded some up a few years ago and remember having to do some working up of the loads - at the time I never found anything published and Berry's didn't have any data to share.  You could try Berry's again and see if they have any data now or work your own load up using a starting point for a 200 grainer.

Berry's does not have any load data, use data for a 200 grain lead projectile.

I have used and like the 185 grain HBRN, The hollow base allows you to load out to 230 grain length, improving the feed profile.  Also in theory the HB should obdurate some for better engadgement of the rifling.

I'm using Berry's 185gr HBRN bullets right now.  I started with 185gr lead data and worked up until I found a load I liked.

Thanks guys, just what I figured. Most plated info suggests using lead data and work up. Loaded some 9mm plated that would not cycle 1911 at low load but worked at the high end

They take more powder for the same velocity because of the extra case volume.
