Is it a reasonable idea to swap tubes from an RNVG housing to a different housing a guy wants to keep the tubes but wants articulation?
Any recommendations on what reputable dealer or tech can do this work and ballpark what they might charge for the work beyond the housing? Feel free to also throw in a housing recommendation - no manual gain obviously given they're 10160 tubes. Thanks! |

We can help  If the tubes are modern L3 than they can be installed into a Manticore or DTNVS-MG. I recommend the Manticore-R. All of the features you'd want and tough as nails Feel free to holler by PM or phone |

If he likes the RNVG style the other option is the articulating ARNVG housing also.
The new ruggedized Katana R is a helluva nice unit IMO also. |

Unless he has high spec tubes installed and specifically wants to keep them for that reason (example: I have some high spec filmless green tubes and I will probably never get rid of them because they would be incredibly difficult to replace), he is better off selling or trading his existing device for something else. Otherwise he is just getting parts pricing on his used rnvg housing.
If he truly insists on going that route, he should shop around because I know some vendors will do the install free if you buy the housing through them, which can save him some $, since it involves collimation and purging. |

I appreciate the responses this is all helpful. Yeah the tubes are L3 unfilmed with very good specs and would be hard to replace economically.
I've been waffling on trying to sell or trade the full setup vs. trying to find someone who can do the tube swap to a new housing and also trying to decide on what housing would be right for me. It's seeming like there might not be a lot of guys out there who want RNVG's with really good tubes - that combo doesn't seem common. Might be hard to sell I don't know. |

If the tubes have a long warranty then I would contact the vendor you bought it from and ask if they will maintain the warranty if they do the swap. If they won't, then I'd sell it and buy a new system vs losing the warranty. If your goggle is one of ours we will maintain the warranty for the swap. |
