Just got a used Mossberg 590 special purpose. It has a speedfeed stock, heat shield, bayo lug and mil-tech sling. I paid 200 and got a free box of shells *Also if you have any pics of a mossy with a red dot on a top mount scope rail I would like to see, and where did you get the rail from? *Would a side saddle shell carrier fit with a scope mounted? Any recommendations? *How would you mount a light? |

Well I will try to answer my own questions but feedback would be great. My gun is tapped for a rail but there are only three screws and the mount I am looking at has four holes for screws. Will it fit? Does anyone have any experiance with this mount?www.e-gunparts.com/DisplayAd.asp?chrProductSKU=980750&chrSuperSKU=&MC= How about this for a shell carrier?www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=386040&t=11082005 Could I use this to mount a light even though i don't have a mag tube extention? Or is there a beter way to go?www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=667570&t=11082005 thanks in advance |

Sounds like a good deal to me. Here's a few pics that might help. It's not a 590, but close enough. :) I have the rail you linked to, very nice piece. It's $15 from brownells. The Mini Red Dot is from Victor at Tactical Night Vision, another very nice piece and it doesn't cost much at all. Basicly a Burris Fast Fire at a much better price. http://www.nitrousfedmuscle.com/images/reddot.jpg http://www.nitrousfedmuscle.com/images/reddot2.jpg Here's my light. It's a Tacstar. The light itself is really nice but, the clamp sucks. It slides down the tube when shooting heavy loads. That's why I threw on the second barrel clamp/sling mount. http://www.nitrousfedmuscle.com/images/tacstarlight.jpg |
| Looks like they went up in price www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=23316&title=MOSSBERG+500%2f590%2f835+SCOPE+RAIL . There should be four screws in the top of your reciever, take those out and the rail screws into all four of those holes. If your reciever is 97 or older you will need a different screw kit. |
|
Not sure how old that is. I bet if you emailed mossberg the serial number they could tell you. I double checked on when they changed the screw size and 97+ has 8x40 and pre 97 is 6x48. It looks like those holes are spaced out for the factory Mossberg Ghost ring kit. So if that's the case, you would still be able to use 3 of the screws to secure the rail. Here's the link to the actual Havlin website, www.havlinsales.com/special.htm. Nice gun too. :) |

thank you, I will try to call or e-mail. And I love the gun. I don't think I will keep the sling loaded to capacity if at all. When I swing the gun to aim at something the sling keeps swinging and throws me off. (It's heavy) ETA they are closed for the long weekend |
