Hello all,

I'm still new to reloading but I'm determined to learn.

Since I'm new at all this I bought a Lee Precision Challenger Press Kit...

How did I do??

What else do I need??

thx

I recommend a decent 5-0-5 type scale, the lee scale is dangerous in my opinion.

I also recomend a decent set of calipers and a chronograph.

Why is the lee scale dangerous?

Is it not accurate?

thx

It wasn't accurate enough for me.

I had one for 2 weeks just to see what it was all about, it never once read exactly the same as my 505 or 1010.

I threw it away.

This thread might be of use... http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=42&t=274143

Edit: I've since added a case gauge, one-shot lube, and a dillon super swage.

I've also got a bullet comparator and a precision mic to measure headspace on the way... but those are extras IMO, not really needed just for plinking ammo...

EDIT 2: And a Lee trimmer (or Giraud... but that's a bit much for starting out, I keep looking at it and salivating...)

The Lee scale works fine for me, but it is something you need to pay attention to detail with, and check zero often.

You did fine.  You need some calipers and a manual if the kit doesn't include one.  You will want some way to clean brass, and components.  There is plenty of other stuff that is nice to have, but you should be able to make a fine start with those items and what is included in the kit.  I've had good experience with Lee equipment for the most part and I've used or use Lee, RCBS, and Dillon presses and other equipment from those three plus Lyman, Redding, and Hornady.

Well if you don't have it already the ABC's or Reloading  and then a reloading book from hodgdon or lyman as well and read a lot. as for what else you need that also depends on if you are just doing pistol or rifle. pistol you dont need as much.
