Hi guys!
How long are your AUGs in overall length? I'm interested in knowing the overall length of a 16inch barreled Aug A1 and a 16inch barreled Aug A3 M1 SF preferably both in mm and inches. Thanks! |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steyr_AUG A1 is 690 mm (27.2 in). M1 should be almost identical |

Unfortunately however I found online that the M1 is apparently 28.25in at http://www.steyrarms.com/products/sporting-riflespistols/new-steyr-aug-a3-m1/ I'm trying to find out why it's more than an inch longer than the 27.2 inch length listed on everything I'd seen in the past like Steyr-Arms.com, wikipedia, remtek etc and that's why I'm asking people to actually measure the total length of their A1 and M1 AUGs. Do you have one and if so, did you measure it yourself? Thanks again! |

The dimensions of the stock has never changed and the dimensions of the receiver (front to rear) hasn't changed either.
From the rear of the buttpad to the front face of the receiver is the same measurement whether it's an M1, A1, or whatever. The 16" barrels are not 16", they are ~16.5". Since OAL is taken on the barrel w/out FH, depending on how the checknut and FH is tightened down could give you many variations in OAL with the FH installed. |

Oh interesting, OAL is taken without a flashider. I had no idea about that! So how long would the A1 be with the flash hider? |

That applies to barrel length, not OAL. To answer your question, my 18" BBL (nominal) AUG is 30" tip to tail. |

the difference between the A1s and the newer ones might be because of the new, ugly as sin, check nut and flash hider. they look to be longer than the original ones They ARE really ugly! I dunno, every time I see the new ones I get the impression that they are shorter than the older ones. |
