I'm getting ready to SBR a Ruger 10/22 (engraved and paperwork sent) in an Evolution stock to be used with a SWR Warlock QD silencer(paperwork sent), how short can I have my barrel cut (Green Mountain) and still function? I was thinking in the 3"-4" range. I would like for the silencer to stick out the end of my Evo stock only 1"-2". If I choose not to use the silencer, I was thinking of using a 5.5" AR15 flash hider?

Thanks!

Being a straight blowback action, a 10/22 should operate with just about ANY barrel length.

If your going that short,, buy a ruger Mk III or Charger pistol and have the barrel threaded..

At 3" + the air drag in-side the can,, you are not going to get much velocity or power. The trajectory will look like a 60mm mortar round..

You might be better off with a 6" - 10" barrel?? What is the intended use?

If you want the package to end at the stock,, thread the can back over the barrel. The can does not have to start at the end of the threads, it could go back 4-5 inches and still be effective..

I agree with 10 inch bbl, below that, you really start losing about 50fps or more per inch, of velocity.

I have a 4.5" Charger barrel from Rimfire Technologies and it functions just fine with my
OB II. The barrel shoots WAY better then I do using Wolf MT. The reviews over at Rimfire
Central on the R/T barrels is nothing short of steller! The barrel is already threaded so no
need to send it anyhere.

Just for quiet & short fun.

Some model sound devices actually extend back over the barrel. The common method is to thread the last ?? Inch?? but you don't have to,

Reflex makes a model the extends back over the barrel 6 or 7 inches,, This allows the package to be much shorter, while still providing very good suppression  on a full size barrel.

Reflex is commonly used in Europe Military applications.

The TX4 Ranger of M62 opened reveals the internal simplicity of the Reflex Suppressor that is especially designed for standard full power ammo. The muzzle blast gets offset from the bullet path by the diffractor cone. After that the first baffle reflects it backwards into the large expansion chamber telescopically around the barrel. This principle enables an exceptionally short and light all steel construction: the TX4 Ranger weighs less than 300 grams (2/3 lbs.) and extends over the muzzle 5 centimeters (2 in.).  Becouse the Reflex Suppressors have initially been designed for Valmet M62 to be used with regular supersonic cartridges, the first expansion chamber is exceptionally large for only minor gas port pressure delay increase. The T8 Scout and T4 Ranger models for the more powerful .308 Win and other rifle calibers have even larger first expansion chamber.

Who makes a reflex can that'll extend back over a stock 10/22 barrel?
