how the F*** do i remove this QDC flash hider? tried soaking it in water and a vice and all sorts of things. Cant get the damn thing off.
Does that peg on the flash hider need to be removed before i unscrew it? what is that? Sorry i am completely un familiar with these KAC mounts. Any hints? Thank you!

What length barrel? If it was 14.5 or there abouts it's possible the FH is pinned and welded to get the barrel up to 16". 11.5" SR16. Its shouldnt be pinned on. maybe they used rocksett. so that little stake sticking up is just for the can? or is it screwed in to the threads? |

Rocksett being a ceramic I've heard whacking the end of the flash hider with a hammer to fracture it can help.
A fast heat of the FH to get some movement on it might also help. The water soak thing for Rocksett I've never tried, I use RS but I had no problem removing the two brakes I taken off in the past, they popped off pretty easy. I ramble, anyway I've read 'soak for 24 hours' with RS if you haven't tried that long might be worth a shot. If you don't have a reaction rod then it might be cheaper to hit up a FLGS than buy the tool. (friendly local gun smith/shop) Be careful, you can break your index pin or damage your upper if you apply too much force trying to take it off. Worst case careful dremel work and a chisel will get it off without jacking up the barrel or the threads. |

Since OP has an 11.5" upper, he would have had to remove the URX to use barrel blocks. This is not an easy process for someone without the expensive tool. |
