What type of cord is on the zippers? It's like a thinner stiffer 550 cord.  What is it and where do I get some?

or you could just use heat shrink tubing over 550 cord, but I suppose that is the exact stuff...

The cords I'm referring to aren't flat,  at least not on mine.

It's like shock cord but with a nylon core and no stretch.

If it has no stretch and a nylon core...that sounds almost exactly like 500 cord? Not understanding the difference here.

Is it that big a deal?

It's stiffer than 550 cord and the overall nylon shell is nit differently. I'm curious and would like to get some to make longer pulls for the assault pack. They are kinda short.

There is a hank of it in this kit

All sorts of useful goodies in that kit. Mine came with a huge bag of ITW nexus a hardware also. I put some of the radiator hose over the pulls too, and epoxied the aluminum frame stays to the plastic frame sheet too ( after cutting and bending them).

Now that's what I'm talking about,  good find.  Thank you sir.
